Main activities of the Institute include production and supply of important veterinary biologicals required for prophylaxis of livestock and poultry diseases and also to ensure complete health coverage by prompt diagnosis of diseases on the face of an outbreak. Biological production division is producing many viral vaccines, bacterial vaccines and diagnostic antigens.

Achievements of Biological production

During the year 2013-14 & 2014-15 Rs. 830.72 lakh & Rs 900 lakh worth vaccines were produced and supplied to the State Government.

  • Production of Pentavalent BT vaccine with a different adjuvant is under progress.
  • Swine fever live cell culture vaccine has been granted NOC from GOI for producing the vaccine and only few formalities are left for grant of permanent license. Trials conducted revealed satisfactory results and its first tissue culture adapted Swine fever vaccine in the country.
  • Development of LPB- ELISA and iELISA for diagnosis and sero- surveillance of CSF is under progress.
  • Dose reduction of HS & BQ vaccine is under progress.
  • HS & BQ combined vaccine development is under way.
  • Completely GMP compliance production facility with state of the art fully automated fermenters is completely ready and is due for inauguration.

About Us

The Institute is located in the outskirts of Bangalore City on the National Highway-7 next to the Hebbal campus of the University of Agricultural Sciences. The Institute has a land area of 71,000 sq.meters. The buildings occupy more than 6,500 Sq.meters of which the Modern Laboratory Complex has 2000 Sq. meters.
